Updating bios in ubuntu realty tv show single dating

I tried installing Freedos with Virtual Box, but then I read that for the bios upgrade it was a wrong approach to start with.However, during this I learned that the bios upgrade package that HP provides can not be run in "DOS mode", which means that the HP bios can only be executed in Windows.Needing to install windows and ubuntu again is something I or anyone really don't feel like doing...I was kind of hoping there would be an easier option - if, as example, some of the files inside the sp60715package could be executed in Free Dos and if they would be sufficient to upgrade the bios.Flashing the BIOS can be pretty risky if you don't understand what's going on. It sounds like a major waist of time, especially since the won't work in DOS.On the second thought, perhaps it's a thingly camouflaged attempt to brick the machine.Hi, I have been trying to upgrade the BIOS for my HP Envy laptop last weeks and I am not advancing.The task and concepts are too difficult for me and I have a hard time understanding articles related to this.

The reason I want to updgrade the BIOS is just to get the latest fixes to it.The HP bios package is a archive available at: Category?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5144736#N858 ( Category? os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5144736#N858) Once sp60715is extracted it contains the following files: 03385Atp Timer Fls Hook Fls FWUpd Insyde iscflashx64xerces-c_2_7The instructions that I am using for the BIOS upgrade are: upgraded my Acer Extensa by making a Fat32 partition, installing a Free DOS to it and adding the appropriate GRUB entries.There are some tutorials to do this, but I don't have the links handy on this machine.The recommenadtion not to use DOS Mode may simply mean that Windows should not be running when an attempt is made to flash the BIOS.
